La polizia ha scoperto un oggetto sospetto a Lisburn, dopo aver eseguito una serie di arresti nella zona
L’allarme sicurezza è stato lanciato nella zona di Barnfield Road nella giornata di venerdì.
Gli artificieri dell’esercito hanno eseguito un’operazione di messa in sicurezza, terminata poco dopo le 18.
Il ritrovamento è avvenuto dopo l’arresto di due uomini compiuto dagli agenti del Serious Crime Branch. I fermati sono stati trasferiti presso la Serious Crime Suite della stazione di polizia di Antrim e restano in custodia della PSNI.
Nel frattempo i tre uomini arrestati a West Belfast e la donna fermata a Dunmurry sono stati rilasciati senza accuse.
La corrispondente di Utv Sharon O’Neill afferma: “A questo punto la polizia dice poco, ma voci nell’area riferiscono che potrebbero aver sventato una specie di attacco repubblicano.
“I sospetti vengono detenuti ad Antrim e dobbiamo attendere ciò che emergerà”.

Suspect object found after arrests
Police investigating dissident terrorist activity have uncovered a suspicious object in Lisburn, following a spate of arrests.
A security alert was sparked in the Barnfield Road area of the city on Friday.
Army bomb squad officers conducted a clearance operation in the city, which ended shortly after 6pm.
It comes after officers from the Serious Crime Branch arrested two men in the area overnight.They have been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite where they remain in custody.
Meanwhile three men arrested in west Belfast and a woman who was detained in Dunmurry, as part of a major investigation into dissident republican activity, have been released without charge.
UTV Correspondent Sharon O’Neill said: “At this stage, police are officially saying very little, but the speculation in the area is that they have thwarted some sort of dissident republican attack.
“The suspects are being held at Antrim and we’ll just have to see what emerges.”
