Loyalist Action Force rivendica la pipe bomb di Carnlough

Un gruppo terrorista lealista ha ammesso di aver posizionato la pipe bomb nella cittadina di Carnlough che è stata messa in sicurezza mercoledì sera

In una telefonata ad un quotidiano di Belfast, il gruppo scissionista della Loyalist Action force si è assunto la responsabilità per l’ordigno, lasciato in un giardino in Ballymena Road a Carnlough.

La polizia ha cnfermato l’esistenza della telefonata di rivendicazione.

Il sindaco di Larne Andy Wilson, parlando durante un altro allarme sicurezza lanciato nella cittadina, ha detto che un uomo è “fortunato ad essere ancora vivo” dopo aver maneggiato l’ordigno di Carnlough.

Chiamando i responsabili “disumani e pericolosi corardi”, il consigliere dell’UUP ha aggiunto: “E’ chiaro che ci sono ancora terroristi nell’ombra, anche in aree che nel passato sono state pacifiche”.

L’altro oggetto sospetto trovato nella zona di Roddens a Larne è stato dichiarato non funzionante.

Al momento la polizia non ritiene collegati i due incidenti.

Nel frattempo gli artificieri dell’esercito hanno messo in sicurezza una pipe bomb ritrovata a Strabane, Contea di Tyrone, nella mattinata di lunedì.

L’ordigno era stato rinvenuto nella zona di Springhill Park e portato via per ulteriori accertamenti.

Sarebbe stato scoperto sul parabrezza dell’autovettura di un uomo.

Loyalist terrorists ‘planted Carnlough bomb’

A splinter loyalist terror group has admitted it planted a pipe bomb in Carnlough which was disarmed on Wednesday night.

In a call to a Belfast newspaper, the Loyalist Action Force said they were responsible for the device, which was left in a garden in the Ballymena Road area of the village.

Police confirmed the claim had been received.

Larne Mayor Andy Wilson, speaking after a separate security alert in his town, said a man was “fortunate to be alive” after handling the viable device in Carnlough.

Branding those behind it “callous and dangerous cowards”, the UUP councillor added: “It is clear there are still terrorists lurking in the shadows, even in areas which have been peaceful in the past.”

The suspicious device found in the Roddens area of Larne was later found to be a hoax.

At this stage, police do not believe the two incidents are linked.

Meanwhile, in Co Tyrone, army bomb experts made safe a pipe bomb type device found in Strabane on Monday morning.

The suspicious object was found in the Springhill Park area and was taken away for further examination.

It was reported that it was discovered on the windscreen of a man’s car.
