<3>Più di ottanta persone sono state segnalate alla Procura in relazione alla parata repubblicana tenutasi a Lurgan lo scorso maggio e ritenuta illegale
Centinaia di repubblicani si radunarono nel quartiere di Kilwilkie, Lurgan, per l’inaugurazione di un memoriale a ricordo della Rivolta di Pasqua del 1916, costruito senza autorizzazioni su un terreno del Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
Molte persone a volto coperto e bande musicali hanno attraversato il quartiere repubblicano di Kilwilkie verso il memoriale eretto a Lurgantarry.
La presenza della polizia fu massiccia e ai partecipanti alla parata fu detto che la parata non era legale.
Ieri l’Ispettore Capo Jon Burrows ha rilasciato un aggiornamento sull’indagine che seguì la parata repubblicana del 28 maggio.
“L’investigazione è conclusa e il fascicolo di 81 persone è stato trasferito al Public Prosecution Service per sospetti di reato in base alla Legge sulle Processioni Pubbliche, compreso il reato di partecipazione ad una parata non notificata e quello elencato alla Sezione 13 della Legge sul Terrorismo del 2000 riguardante le uniformi paramilitari”, ha spiegato Burrows.
“Si è trattato di una indagine complessa. Gli arresti furono il risultato delle operazioni di polizia”.

Police arrest 81 people linked to illegal republican parade in Lurgan
More than 80 people have been reported to the Public Prosecution Service in relation to an illegal republican parade in Lurgan last May.
Hundreds gathered in Kilwilkie at the opening of a Easter Rising Memorial which was built illegally on land owned by the NI Housing Executive.
A large group of masked men and bands marched through the estate towards the monument at Lurgantarry.
At the time there was a heavy police presence and marchers were told on a tannoy by the PSNI that the parade was illegal.
Today Chief Inspector Jon Burrows issued an update with regards to the investigation following an unnotified parade on May 28th.
Chief Inspector Burrows said, “The investigation has now concluded and 81 persons in total have been reported to the PPS for suspected offences under the Public Processions Act, including participating in an un-notified processions and Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 which relates to paramilitary uniform.
“This has been a complex investigation. The arrests were as a result of the subsequent Policing operation and concurrent investigation.”
