M1 chiusa per allarme sicurezza

La M1 è stata chiusa in entrambi i sensi di marcia tra Lurgan e Moira in uno dei tre allarmi sicurezza lanciati il Lunedì dell’Angelo

L’autostrada è stata chiusa dopo il ritrovamento di un oggetto sospetto a lato della strada poco prima delle 17. GLi artificieri dell’esercito sono stati chiamati sulla scena.

In un altro incidente, alcune abitazioni sono state evacuate ad Antrim dopo il rinvenimento di un oggetto sospetto sulla soglia di una casa nel complesso abitativo di Rathenraw.

Gli artificieri sono intervenuti presso l’abitazione di Norfolk Square intorno alle 11 di questa mattina.

Ad alcuni residenti è stato chiesto di abbandonare le proprie case e trovare rifugio in un vicino centro comunitario.

Un’esplosione controllata è stata eseguita sull’oggetto.

La polizia parla di una elaborata imitazione di ordigno.

Il terzo incidente è avvenuto lungo la linea ferroviaria da Portadown a Dublino. Il transito è stato sospeso per l’operazione sicurezza eseguita vicino Lurgan.

La polizia ha effettuato ricerche vicino a Lake Street, dopo le voci che parlavano di un oggetto sospetto individuato intorno alle 9.

La sospensione dei treni ha provocato disagi ed i passeggeri sono stati trasferiti da Lisburn a Portadown tramite autobus.

I clienti di Translink ed Enterprise hanno usufruito di autobus sostitutivi tra Central Station a Belfast e Newry.

M1 closed in security alert

The M1 was closed in both directions between Lurgan and Moira in one of three security alerts to cause disruption on Easter Monday.

The motorway was shut after the discovery of a suspicious object at the side of the road just before 5pm and army technical officers were called to the scene.

In a separate incident several homes were evacuated in Antrim after a suspicious object was discovered on the doorstep of a house on the Rathenraw Estate.

The bomb squad were called to the property in Norfolk Square shortly after 11am.

A number of residents were asked to leave their homes and took shelter at a nearby community centre.

A controlled explosion was carried out.

Police later declared the alert an elaborate hoax.

In a third incident the Portadown to Dublin railway line was closed due to a security operation near Lurgan.

Police were searching the tracks at Lake Street following reports of a suspicious object shortly before 9am.

Train services were disrupted and passengers were transferred by bus from Lisburn to Portadown.

Translink said Enterprise customers were being provided with a substitution bus between Central Station in Belfast and Newry.
