Il paramilitare lealista Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair ha promesso di lasciare il suo rifugio scozzese e tornare in Irlanda del Nord
Adair – attualmente residente a Troon, Ayrshire – ha parlato dopo la dichiarazione di Ulster Defence Association secondo la quale la formazione paramilitare ha rivelato di aver distrutto tutto il suo arsenale.
Facendo l’annuncio, il lealista ha dichiarato che “la violenza non è più un’opzione percorribile”.
Ex comandante UFF – guidava la C Company di Shankill – Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair fu costretto ad abbandonare Belfast nel 2005 in seguito ad una grave faida interna a UDA/UFF. Adesso dopo l’annuncio della decommissioning ritiene di aver la possibilità di ritornare a casa.
Ha affermato: “Ho sempre detto che ritornerò a casa e questo giorno arriverà nel corso di quest’anno. L’UDA ha rivelato al mondo di impegnarsi per la pace, quindi non dovrebbero esserci problemi.
“I miei nemici (interni alla formazione paramilitare) hanno tenuto alcune armi per usarle contro di me ma non mi spaventano. L’unico modo in cui me ne andrò di nuovo sarà se qualcuno mi uccide”.
Il quarantaseienne, incarcerato nel 1995 per aver guidato una formazione terroristica, insiste di star già cercando delle abitazioni in Ulster.
Ma il suo ritorno a casa potrebbe essere più difficile di quanto sperato. Un portavoce dell’UDA ha avvisato: “Questo idiota e la sua banda di criminali non saranno mai accettati.
“Il conflitto è terminato, ma la popolazione lealista non starà a guardare e permettere a questo parassita distruggere uovamente la nostra comunità”.

TERROR thug Johnny ‘Mad Dog’ Adair has vowed to quit his Scottish bolthole and return to Northern Ireland.
Adair – who’s now living in Troon, Ayrshire – spoke out after the Ulster Defence Association revealed that it had decommissioned all of its weaponry.
Making the announcement, senior Loyalist figures insisted: “Violence is no longer a viable option.”
Former UDA commander Adair – who was forced to flee Belfast in 2005 following a bloody split in the terror organisation’s ranks – believes that gives him the all-clear to go back.
He crowed: “I’ve always said I will return home and this day will happen sometime this year. The UDA told the world they are committed to peace so there should be no problem.
“My enemies will have kept a few guns for me but they don’t frighten me. The only way I’ll leave is if someone kills me.”
The 46-year-old, who was jailed in 1995 for directing terrorism, insists he’s already been looking at properties in Ulster.
But his homecoming might be more difficult than expected. A UDA spokesman warned: “This moron and his criminal gang will never be accepted back.
“The conflict is over but the Loyalist people won’t stand by and let this parasite destroy our community again.”
