La leader dello SDLP e parlamentare per South Down chiede al Segretario di Stato di condurre un’inchiesta sulla detenzione di Martin Corey
“Dopo l’incontro con i Corey, cui ha partecipato anche la parlamentare Dolores Kelly, ho fatto una richiesta diretta al Segretario di Stato per conto della famiglia Corey.
“Martin Corey è stato arrestato ed incarcerato nell’aprile 2010 e resta in custodia ancora oggi. Nessuna accusa è stata presentata contro Corey e non è stata stabilita alcuna data per il rilascio. Questo è internamento, nel 2011, ed è in violazione di tutto quello che ci aspettiamo dal nostro sistema giudiziario.
“Il Segretario di Stato deve immediatamente condurre un’inchiesta sulla detenzione di Corey, detenuto senza accuse, e continuerò a pressarlo sulla questione direttamente a Westminster.
“Non possiamo permettere ad una simile situazione di continuare perché viola i diritti di Corey, i diritti della sua famiglia e getta un’ombra scura sul nostro sistema giudiziario”.

Ritchie: Corey case ‘internment in 2011’
SDLP Leader and South Down has called on the Secretary of State to conduct an inquiry into the detention of Martin Corey.
“Following a meeting with the Corey Family, where I was joined by Dolores Kelly MLA, I have now made direct representations to the Secretary of State on behalf of the Corey Family.
“Martin Corey was arrested and detained in April 2010 and he remains in custody today. To date no charges have been made against Mr Corey and he has no date for release. This is interment in 2011, and is a violation of all that we have come to expect from our justice system.
“The Secretary of State must immediately conduct an inquiry into the detention of Mr Corey, who is being held without charge and I will continue to raise this matter with him directly at Westminster.
“We cannot allow such a situation to continue as it violates Mr Corey rights, the rights of his family and indeed throws a dark shadow over our justice system.”
