Il partito di Falls Road afferma che Marian Price si è rifiutata di incontrare una delegazione durante la visita alla prigione di Hydebank
Sean Lynch e Jennifer McCann, parlamentari dello Sinn Fein, hanno fatto visita alla prigione di Hydebank mercoledì 14, con la volontà di incontrare Marian Price.
Affermano che la Price ha rifiutato la visita, ma hanno parlato con i funzionari della prigione per sincercarsi “delle sue condizioni”.
Lo scorso mese Marian Price è stata trasferita dalla prigione di Maghaberry a Hydebank Wood, il carcere femminile di South Belfast.
“Oggi siamo andati a Hydebank e chiediamo ancora il rilascio immediato di Marian Price”, hanno affermato i parlamentari.
“Considerato che lei era stata rilasciata con la condizionale per le accuse sollevate originariamente contro di lei, non c’è alcuna giustificazione per il proseguimento della sua detenzione.
“Lo Sinn Fein è contrario alla revoca delle licenze di rilascio e se ci sono prove contro qualcuno, allora dovrebbe risponderne in tribunale.
“La continua detenzione di Marian Price è fonte di profonda preoccupazione date le sue condizioni mediche e dovrebbe essere rilasciata immediatamente affinché le sue necessità mediche possano essere gestite adeguatamente”.
Il Prison Service aveva spiegato in precedenza che la decisione di trasferire Marian Price a Hydebank era stata presa per l’allarme medico lanciato dal personale del South Eastern Trust.
Da quando era stata riportata in carcere lo scorso anno, il Prison Service ed il Trust hanno discusso in varie occasioni delle necessità della Price durante la detenzione.
Marian Price è stata rimandata in prigione lo scorso maggio dopo essere apparsa ad un raduno repubblicano a Derry ed in seguito è stata accusata per reati legati alla morte di due soldati a Massereene Barracks nel 2009. Accuse che la Price nega fermamente.

Marian Price ‘refuses to meet Sinn Fein’ during prison visit
Sinn Fein have said Old Bailey bomber Marian Price has refused to meet them during a visit to Hydebank women’s prison.
The party’s MLAs Sean Lynch and Jennifer McCann visited the jail on Wednesday with a view to meeting Price.
They said Price had refused to meet them, but that they had met with prison officials and inspected “her living conditions”.
Last month, Price was moved to Hydebank from Maghaberry jail.
“We visited Hydebank today and repeat our call for the immediate release of Marian Price,” the Sinn Fein MLAs said.
“Given the fact that she has been bailed on the charges she was originally arrested for, there is no justification whatsoever for her continued detention.
“Sinn Fein is against the revoking of licenses and if there is any evidence against someone it should be brought before a court of law.
“Marian Price’s continued detention is a serious concern given her medical condition and she should be released immediately so that her medical needs can be addressed adequately.”
The prison service has told the BBC previously that the decision to move Price to Hydebank was taken on clinical advice from healthcare staff at the South Eastern Trust.
It said that since being returned to prison last year, the prison service and the trust have, on a number of occasions, discussed and reviewed her needs while in custody.
Price was returned to prison last May after appearing at a dissident republican rally in Derry and has since been charged in connection with the murders of two soldiers at Masserene in March 2009, a charge she denies.
