La salutew di Marian Price è andata deteriorandosi dopo il suo arresto del maggio 2011, quando il Segretario di Stato Owen Paterson revocò il suo rilascio.
La prominente repubblicana è accusata di aver partecipato ad un raduno repubblicano, dove è stata vista reggere un foglio da cui un uomo a volto coperto ha inviato minacce contro i membri cattolici della PSNI.
Durante l’udienza, subito aggiornata, tenutasi al tribunale di Derry, il giudice McElholm Barney ha spiegato che sarebbe nell’interesse della repubblicana proseguire con le udienze piuttosto che averle sospese come una spada di Damocle.
Ha detto che vuole ottenere dagli avvocati della Price, entro il 4 gennaio, “tutte le autorità competenti e le rilevanti dichiarazioni secondo le quali sarebbe un errore tenere l’inchiesta preliminare” in ospedale, dove Marian Price è attualmente ricoverata.

Mrs McGlinchey’s health has been deteriorating since she was arrested in May 2011, when the then Secretary of State Owen Paterson revoked her release.
She is charged with addressing a dissident republican rally where she was seen holding a page from which a masked man read threats against Catholic members of the PSNI.
At an adjourned hearing at the Magistrates Court in Derry, Judge Barney McElholm said he thought it would have been in the defendant’s interests to have the inquiry hearing proceed rather than have it hanging over her head.
He said he wanted Price’s lawyers to submit to him by January 4 “all the relevant authorities and relevant statute indicating why it would be wrong to hold the preliminary enquiry” in the hospital where she is a patient.
