In risposta alla dichiarazione del leader del DUP Peter Robinson, relativa al ferimento punitivo di Ardoyne, Martin McGuinness ha affermato:
“La violenza collegata alle proteste estreme lealiste nelle ultime settimane ha rappresentato una seria sfida al processo politico. Noi dello Sinn Féin abbiamo mantenuto il sangue freddo.
“L’affermazione che questo ferimento a North Belfast, che condannano senza riserve, ed i fatti che in questa fase sono sotto esame della PSNI e non sono ancora chiari, possano minacciare il processo politico, è francamente ridicolo.
“Il DUP deve mantenere i nervi saldi”.

McGuinness responds to DUP statement on Ardoyne shooting
Responding to a statement from the DUP leader Peter Robinson concerning a shooting in Ardoyne, Martin McGuinness said:
“The violence related to extreme loyalist protests in recent weeks represented a serious challenge to the political process. We in Sinn Féin kept our nerve.
“The assertion that this shooting in North Belfast, which I unreservedly condemn, and the facts of which are at this stage under PSNI investigation and are unclear, should threaten the political process, is frankly ridiculous.
“The DUP should keep their nerve.”
