Il vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness ha accusato Peter Robinson di “ballare sulle note degli estremisti lealisti ” nel corso di in un’intervista ad un giornale, rilasciata prima dell’Ard Fheis dello Sinn Fein di questo fine settimana.
Il politico dello Sinn Fein ha affermato all’Irish News: “Ho steso la mano in amicizia con tutti.
“Ho fatto tutto quanto in mio potere per cercare di portare la situazione verso una politica normale – ma non c’è niente di normale in questo posto”.
Ha accusato Peter Robinson di ascoltare gli “estremisti lealisti” riguardo l’annosa controversia sulla riqualificazione del sito del vecchio carcere di Maze.
“È arrivato come un fulmine a ciel sereno – senza nemmeno una telefonata”, ha detto al giornale.
Rispondendo oggi, il parlamentare DUP Nigel Dodds ha detto che i commenti sul partito e su Peter Robinson erano ” l’ultimo tentativo dello Sinn Féin di lanciare insulti per distrarre la gente dalle manovre della dirigenza rispetto ai ranghi del partito”.
“Il problema dello Sinn Féin non è che non possono raggiungere accordi con gli unionisti, ma che non possono prendere una decisione all’interno del loro stesso partito”, ha detto.
Martin McGuinness says Peter Robinson ‘dancing to tune of loyalist extremists’
Deputy First Minister Peter Robinson has accused Peter Robinson of “dancing to the tune of loyalist extremists” in a newspaper interview ahead of this weekend’s Sinn Fein Ard Fheis.
The Sinn Fein man told the Irish News: “I’ve reached out the hand of friendship to everybody.
“I’ve bent over backwards and done everything in my power to try and bring the situation forward towards normal politics – but there’s nothing normal about this place.”
He accused Peter Robinson of listening to “loyalist extremists” over the long-running dispute over the redevelopment of the old Maze prison site.
“It came as a bolt from the blue – not even a phone call,” he told the newspaper.
Responding today, DUP MP Nigel Dodds said the comments about the party and Peter Robinson were “the latest attempt by Sinn Fein to throw insults as a crude distraction from the leadership jockeying within the party’s own ranks”.
“Sinn Fein’s problem is not that they can’t reach agreements with unionists but they can’t take a decision within their own party,” he said.
