I capi delle quattro principali chiese in Irlanda del Nord si incontrano oggi con il comandante della polizia
Baggott ha assunto il proprio ruolo in qualità di terzo comandante della nuova forza di polizia a settembre.
E’ anche presidente della Christian Police Association (CPA – Associazione Cristiana di Polizia).
Scrivendo sul sito Internet del CPA, il comandante della polizia ha affermato che la sua fede è più di “una sensazione confortevole o di un insieme di principi utili”.
“Credo in un Dio che ha cura profondamente delle sue comunità, della popolazione e degli ufficiali di polizia ed il cui amore è mostrato attraverso la vita, la morte e la resurrezione di Gesù Cristo”, ha continuato.
“Ho trovato che Dio può essere personale e pratico; mi ha aiutato attraverso i momenti buoni e quelli difficili”.
Baggott ha definito il suo ruolo a capo del Police Service of Northern Ireland come il suo “più grande privilegio professionale”.

Police chief meets with churchmen
The leaders of Northern Ireland’s four main churches met with the new PSNI Chief Constable on Monday.
Mr Baggott took up his post as the third leader of NI’s rebranded police force in September.
He is also the president of the Christian Police Association (CPA).
Writing on the CPA website the chief constable has said his faith is much more than “simply a comforting feeling or a set of helpful principles.”
“I believe in a God who cares deeply for communities, people and police officers and whose love is shown through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,” he continued.
“I have found God to be both personal and practical, helping me through the good and the difficult times.”
Mr Baggott has called his role as the head of the Police Service of Northern Ireland his “greatest professional privilege”.
