Matt Baggott: ridotti troppo presto gli agenti della PSNI

Il comandante della polizia nordirlandese Matt Baggott ha detto che gli agnti PSNI sono stati diminuiti troppo presto dopo i cessate-il-fuoco

Parlando davanti ai delegati del convegno dell’UUP, il Chief Constable ha detto che negli ultimi 12 mesi, la polizia ha speso milioni di sterline per contrastare i repubblicani.

Ha annunciato che la riduzione dei numeri degli agenti da 13.000 a 7.000 è stata fatta con le migliori intenzioni e nessuno dovrebbe essere colpevolizzato per la mossa.

Secondo Baggott le ingenti spese sono state necessarie per tentare di bloccare i gruppi repubblicani.

Number of PSNI officers fell too quickly – Matt Baggott

The PSNI chief constable Matt Baggott has said the force was reduced too quickly following the ceasefires.

Addressing delegates at the UUP conference, he said that in the past twelve months, the service has spent millions to counter dissident terror.

He said that reductions in police numbers from 13,000 to 7,000 had been done with the best intention and that no-one should be blamed.

He said that the expenditure was needed to keep dissidents on the back foot.
