McCrea, UUP: la doppia natura dello Sinn Fein

Il parlamentare di Lagan Valley dell’Ulster Unionist Party ha detto che le parole di Gerry Adams rilasciate a BBC Radio Ulster durante il fine settimana mostrano la doppia natura dello Sinn Fein a proposito del futuro ruolo di opposizione all’interno del Dail di Dublino.

“Questo weekend sono rimasto sbalordito nel sentire Adams dire che tutte le democrazie adeguatamente funzionanti dovrebbero avere un’opposizione parlamentare e che lui e lo Sinn Fein si sarebbero assunti tale ruolo nel prossimo Dail.

“Le parole di Adams sono in netto contrasto con quelle di altri importanti membri dello Sinn Fein, in particolare con Martin McGuinness, che hanno profondamente rimarcato come ritengano non ci sia bisogno di un’adeguata opposizione nell’Assemblea dell’Irlanda del Nord.

“Questo è l’ennesimo esempio della duplice natura dello Sinn Fein. In un paese dicono una cosa, ed in un altro parlano di una cosa completamente diversa. Lo Sinn Fein ha certamente un partner molto volenteroso nella politica del «voltagabbana”: il DUP. Per la loro continua critica alla coalizione guidata dai Conservativi quando si trovano in Nordirlanda, dobbiamo considerare i loro voti a Westminster ed il regolare sostegno fornito dai parlamentare del DUP alla politica economica della coalizione governativa. Sembra che l’asse Sinn Fein/DUP abbia davvero molto in comune”.

Adams’ comments show duplicitous nature of Sinn Fein – McCrea

Ulster Unionist Lagan Valley MLA Basil McCrea has said that remarks made by Gerry Adams on BBC Radio Ulster over the weekend show the duplicitous nature of Sinn Fein regarding its future role as an opposition party in the Dail.

Commenting, Mr McCrea said:
“This weekend I was staggered to hear Mr Adams say that all properly functioning democracies should have a parliamentary opposition and that he and Sinn Fein would be actively taking up this role in the next Dail.

“Mr Adams’ remarks are in stark contrast to those of other senior Sinn Fein figures, particularly Martin McGuinness, who have strongly indicated they believe there is no role for a properly funded opposition to be provided for in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

“This is yet another example of the duplicitous nature of Sinn Fein. In one country they say one thing, and in another something entirely different. Sinn Fein do of course have a very willing partner in the politics of the ‘volte face’ – the DUP. For their continued lambasting of the Conservative –led coalition whilst in Northern Ireland, we must also consider their voting record whilst at Westminster and the regular support DUP MPs give to Coalition economic policy. It would appear the Sinn Fein/DUP axis has so very much in common.”
