McGurk’s Bar: commemorazione per i 40 anni dal massacro

Sabato 3 dicembre le famiglie delle vittime e dei feriti del Massacro al McGurk’s Bar terranno una serie di eventi per commemorare il 40° anniversario della strage – anche se l’esplosione della bomba lealista avvenne sabato 4 dicembre 1971.

L’evento è pubblico e intercomunitario, per cui potete presenziare senza alcun problema durante tutta la serata.

Gli eventi saranno i seguenti:

• 19:00 – Messa commemorativa presso St Patrick’s Church in Donegall Street
• 19:45 – Processione solenne dalla chiesa al sito del McGurk’s Bar in North Queen Street
• 20:00 – Raduno
• 20:15 – Benvenuto/Failté, Spiegazione del contesto in cui la bomba venne fatta esplodere.
  Preghiere da parte del prete cattolico locale e del ministro protestante.
  Inaugurazione del murales commemorativo.
  Posa di una corona di fiori.
• 20:47 – Due minuti di silenzio in coincidenza con l’ora in cui la bomba esplose 40 anni fa
• 21:00 – Mostra della “Campagna per la Verità” presso la vicina St Kevin’s Hall

McGurk’s Bar: 40th Anniversary Commemoration

The families of those killed and injured in the McGurk’s Bar Massacre will be holding a a series of events to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the bombing on Saturday 3rd December (the attack occurred on Saturday 4th December 1971 though). This is a public, cross-community event so please feel free to pay us a visit at any stage during the night.

The running order for the night is as follows:

• 700 pm Commemorative Mass at St Patrick’s Church, Donegall Street
• 745 pm Solemn procession from the Church to the site of the bomb in North Queen Street
• 800 pm Gathering at the site
• 815 pm Welcome/Fáilte, Context of the bombing
  Prayers by local Catholic Priest and Protestant Minister

  Unveiling of our commemorative mural-relief

  Wreath-laying ceremony

• 847 pm Two minutes’ silence to coincide with the time that the bomb exploded on that Saturday night
• 900 pm Exhibition of our Campaign for Truth in nearby St Kevin’s Hall
