Minacce di morte dopo omicidio McDaid

Più di 20 persone hanno ricevuto minacce di morte in seguito alla morte di Kevin McDaid, avvenuta a maggio a Coleraine

L’uomo, cattolico e padre di quattro figli, venne assassinato vicino alla sua abitazione da una banda lealista.

Un avvocato dell’accusa ha detto che la metà delle 20 persone minacciate sono testimoni, mentre il resto include uomini sospettati del coinvolgimento nell’aggressione.

Undici persone in totale sono accusate di reati collegati all’omicidio McDaid.

I dettagli sono emersi quando uno degli accusati, James McAfee, ha chiesto il rilascio su cauzione.

L’accusa ha riferito che l’uomo sarebbe stato visto gridare insulti e richiamare altra gente, ma uno degli avvocati difensori ha contestato la forza delle accuse.

Il giudice deciderà sulla richiesta di rilascio venerdì.

Death threats over McDaid murder

More than 20 people are under death threats following the murder of Kevin McDaid in Coleraine last May, the High Court has heard.

The Catholic father-of-four was killed near his home by a loyalist mob.

A prosecution lawyer said half of the 20 people are witnesses, while the rest include men who are suspected of involvement in the attack.

A total of 11 people have been charged in connection with the murder of Mr McDaid.

The details emerged as one of the accused, James McAfee, from Lisnablagh Road in Coleraine, applied to be released on bail.

The prosecution lawyer said he had been seen chanting and urging others on, but a defence barrister questioned the strength of the prosecution case.

The judge said he would give his decision on the bail application on Friday.
