Minacce razziste contro Anna Lo

Altre minacce razziste sono state fatte contro la parlamentare dell’Alliance Party

Anna Lo ha partecipato ad un forum multiculturale a Coleraine, giovedì, nonostante le minacce ricevute telefonicamente dall’albergo dove si svolgeva l’incontro.

Il leader dell’Alliance, David Ford, ha detto che le minacce sono state denunciate alla polizia per assicurare la sicurezza di Anna Lo.

Ford ha detto che quanto accaduto è rivoltante e la gente che emette tali minaccia non dovrebbe avere casa nella nuova Irlanda del Nord.

Lo ha partecipato all’annuale incontro generale del Coleraine Borough Churches Forum.

La minaccia è stata ricevuta dall’hotel mercoledì. Si diceva che ci sarebbero stati attacchi contro la parlamentare e l’intero gruppo se l’evento fosse proseguito.

La parlamentare di South Belfast, originaria di Hong Kong, ha affermato: “Penso davvero sia molto triste avere elementi simili nella nostra società, gente come quella, che intende distruggere un’ottima organizzazione il cui scopo è tenere insieme tutte le chiese e lavorare per migliorare le relazioni intercomunitarie”.

Anna Lo ha ricevuto minacce ed una lettera d’odio dopo aver parlato in sostegno dei rumeni costretti ad abbandonare le loro abitazioni ad inizio anno.

‘Racist threat’ to Alliance MLA

More racist threats have been made against Alliance MLA Anna Lo.

She appeared at a multi-cultural forum in Coleraine on Thursday despite the threat being phoned into the venue, a local hotel.

Alliance leader David Ford said the threat was reported to the police who ensured her safety.

Mr Ford said what happened was sickening and people who make such threats have no place in the new Northern Ireland.

Ms Lo addressed the annual general meeting of the Coleraine Borough Churches Forum.

The threat was received by the hotel on Wednesday, claiming there would be attacks on her and the group if the event went ahead.

The South Belfast Assembly member, who is originally from Hong Kong, said: “I think really it is very sad that we still have elements in our society, people like that, who want to disrupt a very good organisation that aims to bring together all the churches and work on healing cross-community relations.”

Ms Lo also received threats and hate mail when she spoke out in support of Roma people who were intimidated from their homes in her constituency earlier this year.
