Il ministro junior ha condannato la minaccia contro la sua abitazione

Gerry Kelly, attualmente negli Stati Uniti per un viaggio di lavoro, ha rivelato che il suo ufficio elettorale ha ricevuto una telefonata, stamattina, nella quale parlava di una bomba pronta ad esplodere a casa sua.

Secondo quanto raccontato dal rappresentante di North Belfast, le ricerche non hanno portato al ritrovamento di alcun ordigno, ma ha comunque condannato chi è dietro alla minaccia.

Nessun gruppo è stato accusato direttamente per l’allarme, ma i repubblicani hanno già minacciato di voler attaccare importanti membri dello Sinn Fein, tra cui il vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness.

Kelly, negli USA per gli eventi che commemorano i 25 ani dei Principi McBride sulla giusta assunzione, dice che chi si trova dietro alla minaccia non lo distoglierà dal proprio lavoro.

“Condanno questa minaccia vile contro la mia famiglia.

“Come rappresentante del popolo ho ricevuto minacce in precedenza e quest’ultima non mi tratterrà dall’eseguire il mio lavoro in nome della gente che mi ha eletto. Siate certi, non ci faremo intimidire.

“Questo dimostra il calibro delle persone responsabili che vogliono minacciare in tale modo la mia famiglia ed i vicini di casa”.

MLA hits out after bomb threat

Junior Minister Gerry Kelly has condemned a bomb threat targeting his family home.

Mr Kelly, who is currently in the US on a political trip, said his constituency office received a call on Wednesday morning claiming a bomb was about to be detonated at his family home.

The North Belfast representative said searches failed to find an explosive device, but he condemned those behind the threat.

No group has been blamed for the threat, but dissident republicans have already threatened to attack senior Sinn Fein members, including deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Mr Kelly, who is in the US for events to mark 25 years of the McBride Principles on fair employment, said those behind the threat would not deter him from his work.

“I condemn this cowardly threat against my family.

“As a public representative I have received threats before and this latest one will in no way detract me from carrying out my work on behalf of the people who elect me. Be assured that we will not be intimidated.

“It shows the calibre of the people responsible that they would threaten my family and neighbours in such a way.”
