Un uomo ha evitato ferite dopo che due ordigni hanno colpito la proprietà in Windsor Terrace a Coagh, poco dopo la mezzanotte di mercoledì.
Una delle bottiglie incendiarie ha colpito la porta di ingresso mentre l’altra ha infranto la finestra del salotto. La polizia rivela che entrambe le molotov sono esplose e hanno causato danni all’abitazione.
Secondo Michael McIlvor, consigliere dello Sinn Fein, ci sono problemi con i comportamenti anti-sociali che coinvolgono alcuni residenti della zona.
“Da quello che complendo, non è un attacco settario o razzista”, afferma.
“Mentre ci sono problemi che coinvolgono alcuni individui, questo non giustifica ciò che è accaduto qui. Questo è un attacco disgraziato in una zona dove vivono famiglie e bambini. L’uomo nella casa poteva restare ucciso, o magari le persone che abitano nelle case a fianco”.
McIlvor dice che non c’è sostegno agli attacchi violenti nella cittadina di Coagh.
“Questa è una piccola cittadina e da molto tempo non avevamo nulla di così grave”, aggiunge.
“Ha causato molta inquietudine e la gente è preoccupata. Questo tipo di comportamenti terrorizza la gente che abita a Coagh, e non è ben accetto.
“Mi appello ai responsabili affinché pensino accuratamente alle loro azioni e a chiunque abbia informazioni di comunicarle”.
La polizia chiede informazioni ad eventuali testimoni.
Man escapes injury after house is petrol-bombed
A man escaped unhurt after two devices were hurled at the property at Windsor Terrace in Coagh shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
One of the petrol bombs struck the front door while the other hit a living- room window, smashing two glass panes. Police said both devices ignited and caused damage to the house.
Sinn Fein councillor Michael McIvor said there had been problems with anti-social behaviour involving some residents.
“From what I understand this was not a sectarian or racist attack,” he said.
“While there has been a few problems involving individuals, it doesn’t excuse what has happened here. This was a disgraceful attack in an area where families and children live. It could have killed the man in the house or people in neighbouring houses.”
Mr McIvor said there was no support for violent attacks in Coagh.
“This is a small village and it has been a long time since we’ve had anything as serious as this,” he added.
“It has caused a lot of concern and people are very worried. This type of behaviour terrorises people living in Coagh, and it’s not wanted.
“I would appeal to those responsible to think carefully about their actions and for those with information to bring it forward.”
