Due bottiglie incendiarie sono state lanciate contro una stazione di polizia a East Belfast
Le molotov sono state lanciate contro la stazione Willowfield poco prima della mezzanotte di domenica.
La polizia afferma che le bottiglie incendiarie sono state lanciate dalla zona di Willowfield Drive e non hanno provocato danni all’edificio.
La stazione di Willowfield non è più aperta al pubblico ma al suo interno sono ospitate alcune unità della PSNI.
Nessun agente di polizia era presente nell’edificio al momento dell’attacco.
Robin Newton, parlamentare DUP per East Belfast e membro del Policing Board, ha condannato l’attacco incendiario.
“Non c’è motivo o ragione che giustifichi questo attacco. È un’azione insensata che avrebbe potuto avere conseguenze molto gravi”, ha affermato il politico unionista.
“I responsabili – o il responsabile – devono essere fermati. Chiunque sia pronto a mettere a rischio vite umane lanciando bottiglie molotov è un pericolo per l’intera comunità e deve essere portato in tribunale.
“Faccio appello alla gente di East Belfast affinché fornisca qualsiasi informazione su questo incidente, per togliere dalle strade questi criminali”.
Anche Naomi Long, parlamentare di Alliance Party a Westminster, ha condannato l’incindente.
“Non può esserci giustificazione per questo attacco alla polizia. I responsabili sono interessati solo alla violenza insensata e non hanno alcun riguardo per le conseguenze delle proprie azioni.
“Qualsiasi attacco contro la polizia è un attacco al ruolo della legge e alla comunità locale”.
Una portavoce della PSNI ha chiesto a chiunque possa aver notato qualcosa di sospetto di contattare gli investigatori.

Belfast police station petrol bombed
Two petrol bombs have been thrown at a police station in east Belfast.
The devices were thrown at the Willowfield station just before midnight on Sunday.
Police said the bombs were thrown from the Willowfield Drive area and no damage was caused to the building.
The station is no longer open to the public, however, there are police units based in the facility.
No officers were inside the station at the time of the attack, however, security staff were manning the base.
East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton, a member of the Policing Board, has condemned the attack.
“There is no cause or reason that justifies this attack. It is a mindless action that could well have resulted in extremely serious outcomes,” he said.
“The person/s responsible must be apprehended. Anyone who is prepared to put life at risk by throwing petrol bombs is a danger to the whole community and needs to be taken before the courts.
“I am appealing to the good people of east Belfast to provide any information they may have on this incident so these criminals can be taken off the streets.”
East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long also condemned the incident and urged anyone with information to contact police.
“There can be no justification for this attack on the police. Those responsible are just interested in mindless violence and do not have any regards for the consequences of their actions.
“Any attack on the police is an attack on the rule of law and the local community.”
A PSNI spokeswoman asked for anyone who was in the area and may have noticed something suspicious to contact investigating officers on the non-emergency number 101.
