Molotov lanciata durante disordini a Short Strand

Ci sono stati lievi disordini a East Belfast che hanno coinvolto bande di lealisti e nazionalisti

Poco dopo le 22 di mercoledì sera la polizia ha ricevuto denunce per il lancio di oggetti nella zona di Newtownards Road.

Una folla si è radunata nella zona e ha lanciato fuochi d’artificio, insieme ad almeno una bottiglia molotov.

La polizia ha lavorato insieme ai rappresentanti della comunità per riportare l’ordine.

Newtownards Road è tornata alla quiete intorno alle 23:30.

Probabilmente a scatenare i disordini è stato l’attacco contro una chiesa cattolica di Short Strand. Mani lealiste avrebbero lanciato contro le pareti della chiesa paint bomb (bombe di vernice) rosse, bianche e blu, i colori della bandiere inglese.

E’ la seconda volta, questa settimana, che la chiesa di St Matthews veniva fatta bersaglio di attacchi.

Petrol bomb thrown during disturbances

There has been minor trouble involving loyalist and nationalist gangs in east Belfast.

Shortly before 10pm on Wednesday night, police received reports of missiles being thrown in the lower Newtownards Road area.

A large crowd gathered in the area around an hour later and fireworks were thrown, along with at least one petrol bomb.

Police say they worked with community representatives to restore order.

The lower Newtownards Road was reported to be calm at around 11.30pm.

During the early hours of Wednesday morning, a Catholic Church in east Belfast was daubed with red, white and blue paint.

It was the second time this week that St Matthew’s Church on the Newtownards Road was targeted.
