Alla diciassettenne Megan Donnelly è negato per due volte il permesso di visitare il padre dopo essersi recata presso la prigione di Maghaberry, dove Gary Donnelly sta scontando una condanna a sette mesi per aggressione contro un agente della PSNI.
Secondo la ragazza nessuno le avrebbe detto che suo padre non poteva ricevere visite prima di intraprendere il viaggio di due ore verso la prigione della Contea di Antrim.
Ha riferito al Derry Journal: “Mercoledì sono andata a vedere mio papà insieme a mia sorella e ho fatto tutti i passaggi necessari per arrivare alla zona delle visite e quando ero là mi hanno detto che la visita era stata rifiutata.
“Ho dovuto lasciare le impronte digitali tre volte, passare davanti ai cani antidroga e solo allora un altro prigioniero è venuto a dirmi che (a mio papà) non era stato concesso di scendere a vedermi”.
La giovane afferma che si tratta della seconda volta in cui il padre non è stato permesso di incontrarla.
“In quell’occasione, ero qui con la mia sorellina di 9 anni, che aveva preso un giorno di vacanza da scuole per venire alla visita, e non ci hanno permesso di farlo. Se accade di nuovo questa settimana, sarà passato più di un mese senza vedere nostro padre. Abbiamo ricevuto una sua telefonata, ma non è come vederlo”.
Un portavoce del 32 County Sovereignty Movement descrive la situazione come “un attacco ai prigionieri attraverso i loro cari”.

Donnelly’s daughter denied visit – claim
17 year-old Megan Donnelly says she has been refused permission to visit her father twice after travelling to Maghaberry Prison where her father is currently serving a seven month sentence for assaulting a PSNI officer.
Ms Donnelly says she wasn’t told that her father had been refused a visit before she made the two-hour journey to the County Antrim jail.
She told the ‘Journal’: “I went up on Wednesday to see my daddy with my sister and I went through all the steps that you have to go through before you get into the visiting area and then I was told he was being refused the visit.
“I had to be fingerprinted three times and go past the sniffer dog and then another prisoner came and told me that he wasn’t being allowed to come down and see me.”
The teenager claims it is the second time her father hasn’t been allowed to see her.
“On that occasion, I was there with my nine year-old sister who took the day off school to go and visit him and we were refused. If it happens again this week, it will be more than a month since we will have seen our father. We get a phone call from him but it isn’t the same as seeing him. It’s like we are being published, too.”
A spokesperson for the 32 County Sovereignty Movement described the situation as “an attack on the prisoners through their loved ones.”
