Niente accordo sulle parate ad Ardoyne

Il gruppo incaricato di risolvere la disputa sulle parate contenziose di North Belfast afferma di non essere riuscita a ottenere un accordo, quindi il tavolo delle trattative viene interrotto

La diatriba sulla parata di supporto dell’Orange Order che percorre la via di fronte agli Ardoyne Shops negli ultimi anni ha portato a gravi disordini nel periodo del 12 luglio.

Tre mediatori – l’ex Speaker di Stormont Lord Alderdice, il reverendo Norman Hamilton e padre Gary Donegan – hanno sondato il terreno per una soluzione pacifica.

In una dichiarazione i mediatori sostengono di aver compiuto progressi significativi e di aver considerato le proposte ingegnose e positive.

Tuttavia, ammettono di non aver raggiunto alcun accordo, aggiungendo che gli incontri stanno terminando perché la decisione della Commissione Parate è ormai imminente.

I mediatori sperano che le comunità riescano a trovare il modo per garantire il passaggio pacifico delle prossime settimane.

Ardoyne parade mediators unable to broker deal

A group trying to resolve the dispute over contentious parades in north Belfast say they have not been able to broker a deal, so are ending discussions for a while.

The row over an Orange feeder parade that makes its way past the Ardoyne shops has in recent years led to serious disturbances on the 12th July.

Three mediators, former Stormont Speaker Lord Alderdice and clergymen, Rev Norman Hamilton and Fr Gary Donegan have been exploring the scope for a peaceful solution.

In a statement the mediators claim to have made significant progress and to have considered imaginative and positive proposals.

However they admit that no agreement has been reached, and say they are ending their discussions for the time being as a ruling from the Parades Commission is now imminent.

The mediators say they hope the local communities find ways of ensuring the next few weeks pass off peacefully.
