L’ex Segretario di Stato per l’Irlanda del Nord, Peter Hain, ha annunciato che non si candiderà alle elezioni del 2015
Il parlamentare del Labour Party (Partito Laburista) ha deciso di sare un taglio alla sua carriera alla Camera dei Comuni dopo una serie di discussioni con il leader del partito Ed Miliband.
Il rappresentante della circoscrizione di Neath fu Segretario di Stato per l’Irlanda del Nord tra il 2005 ed il 2007 e ha descritto il ruolo come “il miglior lavoro che ho mai fatto”.
Peter Hain era stato nuovamente selezionato per le prossime elezioni del 2015, sempre a Neath in Galles, ma ha detto di cercare “nuovi metodi” per essere coinvolto nella politica.
“Sono stato in politica per quasi 50 anni, di cui 23 passati nella Casa dei Comuni”, ha spiegato Peter Hain.
“Mentre è mia ferma intenzione di restare attivo in politica, ho deciso che è tempo di cercare nuovi metodi per rappresentare le nuove politiche progressiste su cui Ed Miliband ed io siamo impegnati. È tempo di un cambiamento”.
Ed Miliband, numero uno laburista, ha elogiato Peter Hain per la sua integrità, saggezza e per il lavoro senza sosta fatto per il paese e ha detto che sarà certamente rimpianto.

Former Secretary of State to stand down
Former Northern Ireland Secretary of State Peter Hain has announced he is to stand down as an MP at next year’s general election.
The Labour MP said he had “decided to draw stumps” on his Commons career following a series of discussions with party leader Ed Milliband.
The Neath representative was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland between 2005 and 2007, describing the role “as the best job he had”.
Mr Hain had been reselected to fight the 2015 election for Neath in Wales but said he would now find “new ways” to be involved in politics.
He said: “I have been in politics for some 50 years, 23 of those in the House.
“Whilst it is my firm intention to remain active in politics, I have decided that it is time to find new ways to represent the new progressive politics to which I and Ed Miliband are committed. It’s time for a change.
Labour leader, Ed Miliband praised Mr Hain for his integrity, wisdom and tireless work for the country and said he would be sorely missed.
