Niente incontri prima della parata di Ardoyne: “Il GARC? Sono bigotti xenofobi”

I leader lealisti hanno escluso colloqui con i gruppi di residenti nazionalisti prima della controversa parata del Lunedì dell’Angelo che si terrà a North Belfast

Entrambe le parti sono state coinvolte in uno scontro verbale su un sito di social network in vista della parata degli Apprentice Boys of Derry attraverso l’area Ardoyne.

Circa 100 Apprentice Boys e una banda marceranno davanti al flashpoint degli Ardoyne Shops in mezzo a un massiccio spiegamento di forze di sicurezza.

Il Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (GARC) aveva chiesto degli incontri in vista della parata.

Il gruppo di residenti vuol porre fine a tutte le parate che transitano nella zona.

Ma Winston Irvine, portavoce del North and West Belfast Parades & Cultural Forum, ha detto che non ci sarebbero stati colloqui con i gruppi di residenti che ha descritto come “bigotti xenofobi”.

Nel corso di uno scontro verbale su Twitter questa settimana con un repubblicano, Irvine detto: “Il GARC è un gruppo dissidente repubblicano che sta cercando di approfittarsi della cultura protestante.

“I ‘dizzies’ (abbreviativo di dissidenti, Ndt) non sono interessati a risolvere il problema delle parate.

“Il North and West Belfast Parades Forum è stato un sostenitore costante nel perseguire una risoluzione e sta dialogando con i repubblicani dal 2002”.

Lunedì il GARC ha rilasciato una dichiarazione riguardo alla sua posizione sulla parata.

Ha chiesto l’istituzione di una “zona senza parate” e anche colloqui con i rappresentanti degli ordini lealisti.

NO TALKS AHEAD OF FLASHPOINT ARDOYNE PARADE ON EASTER MONDAY

LOYALIST community leaders have ruled out talks with nationalist resident groups ahead of a controversial Easter Monday parade in North Belfast.

Instead, both sides have been involved in a verbal row on a social network site ahead of the Apprentice Boys of Derry Parade through the Ardoyne area.

Around 100 Apprentice Boys and one band will march past the flashpoint Ardoyne shops amid a heavy security presence.

The Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (GARC) had called for talks ahead of the parade.

It says it wants an end to all parades in the area.

However, Winston Irvine, a spokesman for the North and West Belfast Parades Forum, said there would be no talks with residents’ groups which he described as “xenophobic bigots”.

During a verbal row on Twitter this week with a republican, he said: “GARC are a dissident republican rump who are trying to exploit Protestant culture.

“The ‘dizzies’ aren’t interested in resolving parading issue.

“The North and West Belfast Parades Forum has been a constant stalwart in pursuing a resolution and has been in dialogue with republicans since 2002.”

GARC issued a statement on Monday regarding its position on the parade.

It called for a “no parade zone” in the area and also for talks with representatives of the loyal orders.
