Il leader dell’UKIP Nigel Farage una volta disse che il processo di pace in Irlanda del Nord fu costruito su una resa “completamente e totalmente ripugnante” ai terroristi, che vide il rilascio di centinaia di prigionieri. Lo si può vedere su un video appena rilasciato.
Farage contestò la decisione del defunto Reverendo Ian Paisley di entrare in un governo con lo Sinn Féin, in un filmato che dovrebbe risalire al 2007.
L’ex fondatore del DUP Ian Paisley, scomparso lo scorso anno, nel 2007 formò una coalizione governativa con lo Sinn Féin.
I commenti di Nigel Farage sono venuti alla luce in un video pubblicato su YouTube, pochi giorni dopo aver affermato di essere a capo dell’unico partito politico che può parlare in tutto il Regno Unito, avendo eletto rappresentanti in Irlanda del Nord, Inghilterra, Scozia e Galles.
Nel video, Nigel Farage affermava: “Trovo ripugnante l’intero processo di pace in Irlanda del Nord. Assolutamente e totalmente ripugnante. Penso all’aver rilasciato nelle comunità oltre 400 assassini condannati, alcuni dei quali hanno scontato appena 18 mesi di carcere.
“Questo non è quello che io chiamo un processo di pace. Questo è ciò che io chiamo arrendersi alle persone sbagliate, sia dalla parte protestante che da quella cattolica, e quindi sono disgustato dell’intera situazione.
“Sono molto sorpreso che Paisley sia pronto ad andare al governo con lo Sinn Féin/IRA. Sono molto sorpreso da questo”.

Ukip leader Nigel Farage once said the Northern Ireland peace process was built upon an “utterly and entirely loathsome” surrender to terrorists which saw the release of hundreds of prisoners, a newly released video reveals.
Mr Farage slammed the decision of the late Rev Ian Paisley to enter government with Sinn Féin, in footage believed to date from 2007.
Former DUP chief Dr Paisley, who died last year, entered into government with Sinn Féin in 2007.
Mr Farage’s comments came to light in a YouTube video just days after he claimed to run the only political party that speaks for all parts of the UK, as he has elected representatives in Northern Ireland and in England, Scotland and Wales.
In the video, Mr Farage said: “I find the whole peace process, so called, in Northern Ireland loathsome. Utterly and entirely loathsome. I think to have released back into the community over 400 convicted murderers some of whom served sentences short as 18 months.
“That is not what I call a peace process. That is what I call surrender to the wrong ’uns, you know both from the Protestant and the Catholic side, and so I am sickened by the whole thing.
” I am very surprised that Paisley has been prepared to go into government with Sinn Féin/IRA. I really am very very surprised by that.”
