Il vice primo ministro dello Sinn Féin Martin McGuinness ha affermato di essere stato messo al corrente di un piano dei gruppi armati repubblicani per attaccarlo con un lanciarazzi
Martin McGuinness afferma che la PSNI lo ha avvertito che un gruppo che si fa chiamare “CIRA” sta pianificando un attacco contro di lui tramite l’utilizzo di un lanciarazzi.
Lunedì sera il parlamentare dello Sinn Féin ha scritto su Twitter di prendere seriamente la minaccia ma che questo non allenterà il suo impegno per lavorare sulla pace.
In una dichiarazione Martin McGuinness ha affermato: “Non verrò silenziato o scoraggiato da questa o da qualsiasi altra minaccia proveniente da codardi che si mascherano da repubblicani.
“Se le persone dietro questa minaccia pensano di far progredire la causa della riunificazione dell’Irlanda contemplando o pianificando attacchi contro repubblicani irlandesi allora sono veramente distaccati dalla realtà.
“Devono riprendersi, ascoltare la gente d’Irlanda e abbandonare queste azioni futili”.
Ha anche aggiunto: “Questo non fermerà me e neppure altri nello Sinn Féin dal nostro lavoro di rappresentare tutti i componenti della nostra società e dal perseguimento dei nostri obiettivi politici”.

‘Rocket attack’ plot against McGuinness
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has said he has been made aware of a plot by dissident republicans to launch a rocket attack against him.
Mr McGuinness said the PSNI advised him that a group calling itself the ‘CIRA’ considered an attack against him using a rocket launcher.
On Monday night, the Sinn Féin MLA tweeted he takes threats seriously but would not be deflected in his work for peace.
In a statement he said: “I will not be silenced or deterred by this or any other threat from cowards masquerading as republicans.
“If those behind this threat think they are somehow advancing the cause of Irish reunification by contemplating or planning attacks against Irish republicans then they are clearly detached from reality.
“They need to catch themselves on, listen to the people of Ireland and abandon these futile actions.”
He added: “This will not stop me or anyone in Sinn Féin from our work in representing everyone in our society and continuing to pursue our political objectives.”
