Sono stati svelati a East Belfast i tre nuovi murales che sostituiscono quelli paramilitari inneggianti all’UDA
I murales presenti in Templemore Avenue, Kebaan Street e Lendrick Street sono stati convertiti nel corso di un progetto comunitario.
Altri 22 murales nella zona saranno sostituiti nel corso del 2014.
Il progetto è sostenuto dal Belfast City Council, dall’Housing Executive e da Charter NI.
Sam White, di Charter NI, afferma: “Il programma è un processo progressivo anche data la complessità di fornire una nuova immagine a Est Belfast.
“Il concetto mette in evidenza gli atteggiamenti positivi che si trovano all’interno delle comunità della classe operaia e mette ulteriormente in mostra la volontà di cambiamento”.
Máire Hendron, consigliera comunale, ha detto: “Sono felice di vedere nuove opere d’arte per le strade di East Belfast. Questo mostra le immagini positive che la stragrande maggioranza delle persone che vivono in questa zona vogliono vedere”.

Three former UDA murals transformed
Three former UDA murals that have been transformed into positive images have been officially unveiled in east Belfast.
The murals in Templemore Avenue, Kebaan Street and Lendrick Street have been converted as part of a community project.
A further 22 murals in the area are set to be redesigned over the next year.
The project is supported by Belfast City Council, the Housing Executive and Charter NI.
Sam White of Charter NI said: “The community moving forward programme is a progressive process albeit given the complexity in and around re-imaging in East Belfast.
“The concept highlights the positive attitudes that lie within working class communities and further showcases the will for change.”
City councillor Máire Hendron said: “I’m delighted to see new artwork on the streets of East Belfast that shows positive images the vast majority of people living in this area want to see.”
