La polizia di Derry riferisce che i gruppi responsabili di una serie di attacchi punitivi non godono del sostegno della comunità
L’ispettore Jon Burrows afferma che il gruppo distoglie la polizia dallo svolgere il proprio lavoro.
“Gruppi come RAAD e INLA, responsabili di questi attacchi, giocano a favore di spacciatori e stupratori, perché gli agenti non possono trovarsi in due posti contemporaneamente.
“La gente ha una scelta da fare”, ha proseguito.
“Vogliamo che la polizia svolga indagini sui ferimenti oppure si occupi di furti?
“Mentre le azioni come queste proseguono, veniamo distratti dalla priorità di lavorare per la comunità”.
Nell’ultimo attacco punitivo di lunedì, un uomo di 24 anni è stato ferito alle ginocchia ed alle caviglie da uomini a volto coperto che sono penetrati nella sua abitazione in Carrickreagh Gardens, nel quartiere di Creggan.

Splinter groups distract police
The police in Londonderry have said that groups responsible for a spate of punishment attacks do not have the support of the community.
Inspector Jon Burrows said the groups distract police from doing their job.
“Groups like RAAD and INLA that carry out these attacks play into the hands of drug dealers and rapists as officers can’t be in two places at once.”
“People have a choice to make,” he added.
“Do we want police officers investigating the shootings or do they want us investigating burglaries?
“While actions like these continue we’re getting distracted away from the priorities of our work in the community.”
In the latest attack on Monday a 24-year-old man was shot in his knees and ankles after masked men forced their way into his home in Carrickreagh Gardens in Creggan.
