Dieci case sono state evacuate mentre gli artificieri dell’esercito esaminano un veicolo sospetto a Derry
L’allarme sicurezza è stato lanciato dopo che alcuni uomini a volto coperto sono stati visti nella zona intorno alle 12:20.
Ci sono anche voci che parlano di colpi di arma da fuoco nella zona.
La popolazione è stata invitata a non recarsi nella zona.
Il parlamentare SDLP Pat Ramsey ha riferito che la persone sono rimaste colpite dall’incidente.
“Tutto ciò che stanno facendo questi responsabili è portare miseria, stress e dolore alla gente innocente di questa città, che vogliono semplicemente vivere in pace” ha affermato.
“Faccio appello a chiunque abbia informazioni su questo incidente o su qualsiasi altra attività dissidente di passarle alla polizia, affinché i perpetratori finiscano dietro alle sbarre”.
Questo allarme giunge a pochi giorni dallo scoppio di una bomba composta da 200 libbre (90 chilogrammi) di esplosivo artigianale all’esterno della stazione PSNI di Strand Road. Nessuno è rimasto ferito nell’attacco compiuto da Oglaigh na hEireann.

Security alert causes Derry disruption
Ten homes have been evacuated while army bomb experts examine a suspicious vehicle in Londonderry.
The security alert was sparked after reports of a number of masked men in the area at around 12.20am.
Police also received an unconfirmed report of shots being fired.
Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area.
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey said local people were distressed by the incident.
“All those responsible are doing is bringing misery, harm and distress to innocent people in this city who simply want to live in peace,” he said.
“I appeal to anyone who has any intelligence about this incident or any other dissident activity to please pass it on to the police so that the perpetrators can be put behind bars.”
This latest security operation comes after a 200lb bomb exploded outside Strand Road PSNI station on Tuesday. No-one was injured in the attack which was carried out by dissident republicans.
