Un nuovo murales a Belfast segna un “significativo passo avanti nella trasformazione di un luogo divenuto icona dei Troubles in un simbolo di espressione positiva”
L’opera, intitolata “The Face”, è stata ispirata dai lavori dei giovani della zona di Greater Shankill e creata dall’artista locale Kevin Killen.
L’iniziativa è parte del programma Re-imaging Communities (Ridisegnare le Comunità), finanziato dall’Arts Council.
Roisin McDonough, direttrice esecutiva dell’Arts Council ha affermato: “Il programma Re-imaging Communities è impegnato a costruire un futuro condiviso per l’Irlanda del Nord che sia basato su partecipazione, uguaglianza e mutuo rispetto.
“La nuova opera rimpiazza oltre 2,5 metri di graffiti e segna un altro importante passo avanti nella trasformazione di un luogo divenuto icona dei Troubles in un simbolo di espressione positiva dei residenti di Greater Shankill”.

New face of hope on peace wall
A NEW Belfast mural marks a “significant step forward in transforming an iconic landmark of the Troubles into a symbol of positive expression”, it has been claimed.
The artwork, called The Face, was designed by young people from the Greater Shankill area and created by local artist Kevin Killen.
The initiative is part of the Re-imaging Communities programme, funded by the Arts Council.
Chief executive of the Arts Council Roisin McDonough said: “The Re-imaging communities programme is committed to building a shared future for Northern Ireland that is founded on partnership, equality and mutual respect.
“This new artwork replaces over 8ft of graffiti and marks another significant step forward in transforming an iconic landmark of the Troubles into a symbol of positive expression for the residents of the Greater Shankill.”
