Oglaigh na hEireann minaccia due uomini per furto di armi

Minacce di morte sono state emesse da Oglaigh na hEireann contro due uomini collegati alla sparizione di armi dall’organizzazione repubblicana

La polizia sta indagando le minacce contro la coppia. Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH) ha accusato i due uomini di aver preso due armi da fuoco ed averle passate ad un altro gruppo repubblicano. Si ritiene che le armi appartenessero, in origine, all’arsenale dell’INLA.

Una delle armi, un fucile, venne trovato da un bambino mentre giocava nella zoa di Ardoyne, a Nort Belfast, a luglio. Fu quindi consegnata ad un prete, che la portò a sua volta alla polizia.

Si presume che ONH avesse pianificato di usare il fucile per colpire un poliziotto mentre gli orangisti marciavano davanti agli Ardoyne Shops.

In seguito all’esplosione di importanti disordini collegati alla parata orangista, i repubblicani spararono uno o più colpi contro gli agenti, il 13 luglio.

Ad ottobre l’INLA ha affermato di rinunciare alla violenza, perseguendo “esclusivamente una pacifica lotta politica”.

Un portavoce dell’IRSP, formazione politica legata all’INLA, la scorsa sera ha detto di essere a conoscenza dell’incidente ma ha negato che le minacce provenissero dall’INAL.

“Siamo stati avvicinati da un’altra organizzazione dopo che questi due individui affermarono di essere in qualche modo membri o uomini sotto protezione dell’INLA”, ha riferito.

“Li abbiamo informati che i due uomini non sono e non sono mai stati membri (dell’INLA) e non avevano in alcun modo guadagnato la protezione dell’INLA.

“Voglio aggiungere che i due non sono in alcun modo minacciati dall’INLA.

“Infatti non c’è alcuna preoccupazione da parte nostra”.

I due uomini sono stati contattati mercoledì dalla polizia e avvisati di essere sotto minaccia di morte da parte sia di INLA che di Oglaigh na hEireann. Da allora hanno lasciato il Nordirlanda.

ONH threatens pair over loss of its guns

DEATH threats made against two men by Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH) have been linked to the loss of weapons from the dissident republican organisation.

Police are investigating the threats against the pair. ONH had accused the men of taking two firearms and passing them to another dissident grouping. The guns are believed to have formerly come from an INLA arsenal.

One of the weapons, a loaded rifle, was picked up by a child playing in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast in July. It was taken to a priest to be handed over to police.

It is believed that ONH had planned to use the rifle to shoot at police officers as Orangemen marched past Ardoyne shop fronts.

Following widespread public disorder linked to the controversial parade, dissident republicans fired shots at police lines on July 13.

Earlier this month the INLA renounced violence, saying it would pursue an “exclusively peaceful political struggle”.

A spokesman for the INLA-aligned IRSP last night said he was aware of the incident but denied that the men were under any threat from the INLA.

“We were approached by another organisation after these two individuals claimed that they were in some way members or under the protection of the INLA,” he said.

“We informed them that they are not and never have been members and will not be awarded any protection from the INLA.

“I would also add that they are also not under any threat from the INLA.

“In fact they are of no concern of ours whatsoever.”

The two men contacted police on Wednesday and said they were under immediate threat of death from both the INLA and ONH. They have since fled Northern Ireland.

A police spokeswoman said: “We do not discuss the security of individuals. However, if we receive information that a person’s life may be at risk we will inform them accordingly.”
