Tre uomini sono stati arrestati dagli ufficiali che indagano sull’omicidio dell’ex membro dell’IRA Kevin McGuigan.
I sospettati, di 41, 43 e 53 anni, sono stati fermati oggi nella zona di Greater Belfast. Lo conferma la polizia nordirlandese.
Kevin McGuigan senior fu assassinato la scorsa settimana davanti alla sua abitazione di East Belfast.
L’Ispettore Capo John McVea ha detto: “I detective del Serious Crime Branch che stanno indagando sull’omicidio di Kevin McGuigan avvenuto il 12 agosto nella zona di Short Strand a Belfast, hanno arrestato tre uomini.
“Gli uomini, di 53, 44 e 41 anni, sono stati fermati questa mattina in diverse zone di Greater Belfast. Tutte e tre adesso sono stati trasferiti presso la Serious Crime Suite della stazione di polizia di Antrim per essere interrogati”.
Kevin McGuigan, 53 anni, è stato ucciso fuori dalla sua abitazione in Comber Court, Short Strand, lo scorso mercoledì.
L’ex membro dell’IRA era stato trasportato d’urgenza al Royal Victoria Hospital a West Belfast ma è morto poco dopo il suo arrivo.
La messa funebre per Kevin McGuigan si è tenuta oggi a mezzogiorno presso la chiesa di San Matteo.
La salma sarà tumulata nel City Cemetery.

Three arrested in Kevin McGuigan murder investigation
Three men have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of former IRA man Kevin McGuigan.
Suspects aged 41, 44 and 53 were detained today in the Greater Belfast area, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said.
Mr McGuigan Snr was shot dead at his home in east Belfast last week.
Detective Chief Inspector John McVea said: “Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Kevin McGuigan in the Short Strand area of Belfast on 12th August have arrested three men.
“The men, aged 53, 44 and 41 were arrested at various locations in the Greater Belfast area this morning. All three have now been taken to the Serious Crime Suite for questioning.”
The victim, 53, was murdered at his home at Comber Court in the Short Strand last Wednesday.
The father-of-nine was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in West Belfast but died a short time later.
Requiem Mass for Mr McGuigan will be held at St Matthew’s Church in Belfast at midday.
He will be buried in the City Cemetery.
