Orange Order avanza richiesta per marciare su Garvaghy Road

Gli orangisti di Portadown hanno presentato domanda per la loro parata annuale a Drumcree, che si terrà domenica prossima

L’Orange Order aveva rifiutato di chiedere il permesso alla Parades Commission (Commissione Parate) di marciare lungo Garvaghy Road a causa di ciò che definisce “la mancanza di avanzamento” del nuovo organismo che controllerà le parate..

L’Orange Order ha inoltre sottolineato come per sfilate e dimostrazioni da parte di gruppi repubblicani nessuna notifica era stata data alla Commissione.

In un comunicato emesso a nome del gruppo ha dichiarato: “Noi nel Distretto di Portadown pensiamo esista una legge per tutti o non c’è legge”.

Ma, a seguito di una riunione di quartiere , la Loggia ha completato il modulo necessario 11/1 e lo ha consegnato alla polizia a Drumcree Hill nella mattinata di domenica.

“Come Distretto di Portadown siamo parte integrante della Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland e siamo rispettosi di una legge istituzionale. E’ stato concordato da tutti i presenti al nostro recente incontro in Distretto che sotto protesta sarebbero dovuto conformi alla normativa vigente in materia di Parate” ha aggiunto il comunicato.

Orangemen make Drumcree application

Portadown Orangemen have submitted an application for their annual Drumcree parade next Sunday.

The Order had withheld from applying to the Parades Commission to march along the Garvaghy Road because of what it calls “a lack in progress” by the marching watchdog.

It also pointed to parades and demonstrations by republican groups where the Order claims no notification had been given to the Commission.

A statement issued on behalf of the Order stated: “We in Portadown District believe that either there is a law for everyone or there is no law.”

But, following a district meeting, the lodge completed the necessary 11/1 form and handed it to police at Drumcree Hill on Sunday morning.

“As Portadown District is an integral part of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, and we are a law abiding Institution, it was agreed by all present at our recent District meeting that under protest we would indeed comply with the current legislation regarding Parades,” the statement added.
