Orange Order condanna gli attacchi settari contro abitazioni di suoi membri

La polizia sta indagando dopo il ritrovamento di graffiti sulle case di un leader orangista e di un membro di una banda musicale

Il consigliere George Duddy, Maestro del distretto di Coleraine dell’Orange Order, afferma che una bandiera dell’Unione è stata rubata dal retro della sua abitazione in Dromaquill Road, Coleraine.

La PSNI comunica di gestire gli attacchi di Coleraine e di Blakes Road, a Macosquin, come crimini di odio.

Secondo l’Orange Order Duddy è il quarto orangista la cui abitazione è stata attaccata nelle scorse tre settimane.

Le parole “Dì addio allo straccio” sono state scritte sul muro del giardino del consigliere di Coleraine.

In un comunicato, l’Orange Order ha detto l’attacco alla casa di Duddy era il “più recente di una serie di attacchi contro i membri più anziani dell’istituzione della zona Coleraine”.

“Questi attacchi deliberati si sono verificati nelle ultime tre settimane, con tutti e quattro i membri in carica a livello distrettuale o superiore.

“Data una tale coincidenza, sembra che possiamo trarre la conclusione che questi individui sono stati presi di mira per la loro appartenenza all’istituzione orangista”, ha riferito un portavoce.

Nel fine settimana durante un separato attacco contro la Orange Hall di Newry, alcuni vandali hanno cercato di dar fuoco all’edificio in Downshire Road.

POLICE are investigating after graffiti was been sprayed on the homes of a leading Orangeman and a bandsman.

Councillor George Duddy, Coleraine’s District Orange Order Master, said a union flag was also stolen from the rear of his home in Drumaquill Road, Coleraine.

The PSNI said they are treating attacks in Drumaquill Road, Coleraine, and Blakes Road, Macosquin, as hate crimes.

The Orange Order said Mr Duddy was the fourth senior Orangemen whose home had been attacked in the past three weeks.

The words ‘say goodbye to the rag’ were daubed across the Coleraine councillor’s garden wall.

In a statement, the Orange Order said the attack on Mr Duddy’s home was the “latest in a spate of attacks on senior members of the institution in the Coleraine area”.

“These deliberate attacks have occurred over the period of the last three weeks with all four members holding office at district level or above.

“Given such a coincidence, it seems we can draw no other conclusion that these individuals are being targeted solely because of their membership of the Orange institution,” a spokesman for the order said.

In a separate weekend attack in Newry, County Down, vandals attempted to set an Orange hall on fire on Downshire Road in the city.
