Ordigno rudimentale davanti a chiesa cattolica di Glengormley

La polizia sta portando avanti le indagini dopo che una piccola bomba è stata neutralizzata presso una chiesa cattolica a Glengormley, Contea di Antrim.

“L’ordigno rudimentale ma funzonante” è stato rinvenuto fuor dalla chiesa S. Mary’s on the Hll in Carnmoney Road intorno alle 22 di sabato sera

L’allarme sicurezza è stato subito lanciato ed un elicottero della PSNI ha sorvolato la scena per un lungo periodo.

La polizia ha chiuso Carnmoney Road per alcune ore mentre gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico mettevano in sicurezza l’ordigno.

Sono state evacuate alcune abitazioni nei pressi della chiesa.

L’ordigno è stato rimosso per consentire ulteriori indagini.

Padre Damian McCaughan, il prete locale, ha detto che l’allarme ha provocato disagi agli abitanti della zona, compresi anziani e giovani famiglie.

CATHOLIC CHURCH TARGETED WITH CRUDE BOMB

POLICE are investigating after a small bomb was defused at a Catholic church in Glengormley, County Antrim.

The “crude but viable” bomb was found outside St Mary’s on the Hill Church on the Carnmoney Road around 10pm on Saturday night.

A full scale alert was sounded and a PSNI helicopter hovered over the scene for a period of time.

The PSNI closed the Carnmoney Road for a number of hours while Army technical offiers made the device safe.

As part of the alert, a number of homes had to be evacuated.

The device was later removed for forensic examination.

Local priest Fr Damian McCaughan said the alert caused disruption for those living in the area, including elderly people and young families.
