Paisley Junior in lizza contro il TUV

Ian Paisley Junior ha riferito di voler partecipare alla tornata elettorale in North Antrim per Westminster qualora il padre decidesse di ritirarsi

Dopo che Jim Allister è stato sconfitto alle elezioni europee, ha dichiarato di voler partecipare alle prossime elezioni per Westminster nella roccaforte del DUP.

Paisley Junior ha fatto sapere di non volersi sottrarre dalla battaglia con il leader del Traditional Unionist Voice.

Nel frattempo Danny Kinahan è stato confermato parlamentare a Stormont, nelle fila dell’Ulster Unionist Party, per la circoscrizione di South Antrim.

Kinahan, che rimpiazza il dimissionario David Burnside, è il primo membro dell’Assemblea ad utilizzare il nuovo sistema.

Infatti una elezione suppletiva non è più richiesta qualora uno dei membri dell’Assemblea morisse oppure presentasse le dimissioni.

Paisley ‘would battle with TUV’

Ian Paisley Jnr has said he would stand for election in North Antrim in the Westminster election if his father stood down.

After Jim Allister was defeated in the European election on Monday, he suggested he would stand in the DUP heartland in the next Westminster poll.

Mr Paisley Jnr said on Tuesday he would not shy away from a battle with the Traditional Unionist Voice leader.

Meanwhile, Danny Kinahan has been confirmed as a UUP MLA in South Antrim.

Mr Kinahan, who replaces David Burnside who resigned earlier this year, is the first member of the Assembly to be returned under new arrangements.

A by-election is no longer required following the death or resignation of an MLA.
