Il nuovo sindaco di Belfast è il consigliere SDLP Pat Convery
Convery, consigliere per North Belfast, è stato eletto senza voti contrari, con 37 preferenze. Era entrato nel consiglio nel 2001 ed è stato vice sindaco della città.
William Humphrey del DUP è stato eletto vice sindaco.
Convery ritiene molto significativo che nessuno si sia opposto alla sua elezione.
“Dimostra che la vita politica cittadina sta andando avanti”, ha affermato.

SDLP’s Pat Convery replaces Naomi Long as Belfast mayor
The new Lord Mayor of Belfast is Councillor Pat Convery of the SDLP.
Mr Convery, a north Belfast councillor, was elected unopposed with 37 votes in his favour. He joined the council in 2001 and is a former deputy lord mayor of the city.
The DUP’s William Humphrey was elected unopposed as deputy mayor.
Mr Convery said it was significant that no-one had opposed his election.
“It just shows that the political life in the city is moving forward,” he said.
