Dopo aver sentito che le accuse di sostegno ad un’organizzazione illegale, che portarono all’iniziale arresto di Marian Price, sono state abbandonate, il parlamentare di Foyle, Pat Ramsey, chiede il suo immediato rilascio e il ripristino della licenza
Ha affermato Pat Ramsey:
“A quasi un anno dal giorno in cui Marian Price è stata arrestata per aver retto un foglio di carta nel City Cemetery a Derry, le accuse che hanno fatto iniziare il suo calvario sono state eliminate. Questo non sorprende. Ho sempre sostenuto che l’incarcerazione di Marian Price fosse dovuta alle sue convinzioni politiche, e il suo arresto a seguito di una Commemorazione di Pasqua, quando il Segretario di Stato revocò la licenza di rilascio il giorno prima, ha sempre dato luogo al sospetto che ci fossero motivi nascosti per la sua detenzione. Continuo a sostenerlo.
Sono lieto che oggi il sipario sia caduto, e mentre ci sono altre accuse in sospeso, chiedo al Segretario di Stato di ripristinare licenza di Marian Price e rilasciarla da Hydebank Wood per farle preparare le risposte”.

Ramsey renews call for Marian Price’s release
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has reacted to news that charges of eliciting support for an illegal organisation that led to the initial arrest of Marian Price have been dropped, by calling for her immediate release and restoration of her license.
Mr Ramsey said:
“Nearly a year to the day that Marian Price was arrested for holding a piece of paper in the City Cemetery in Derry, and the charges that began her ordeal have been dropped – it is neither surprising nor is it before time. I have always contended that Marian Price’s incarceration was due to her political beliefs, and her arrest following an Easter Commemoration when the Secretary of State revoked her license the day before, always gave rise to a suspicion that there were shadowy motives for her detention – I still contend that.
I am glad that today the curtain has fallen, and while there are other charges outstanding, I am calling on the Secretary of State to reinstate Marian Price’s license and release her from Hydebank Wood while she prepares to answer these.”
