Il consigliere di Ballymena Paul Frew è stato scelto per sostituire Ian Paisley Junior come rappresentante del DUP nell’Assemblea di Stormont
Il suo successore è stato consigliere dal 2005 per la zona di Braid a Ballymena.
Frew, 35 anni, è stato prescelto durante l’incontro della North Antrim DUP Association avvenuto mercoledì sera.
“E’ un grande onore per me essere stato scelto dai miei colleghi di partito per rimpiazzare Ian Paisley nell’Assemblea nordirlandese”, ha affermato.
“Ian ha lavorato molto duramente come membro dell’Assemblea – la gente della nostra comunità ha riconosciuto ciò quando lo hanno scelto per rappresentarci a Westminster.
“So che entrare al posto di Ian a Stormont sarà un grande compito, ma guardo avanti per interpretare il mio ruolo come membro della forte squadra di North Antrim del DUP composta da parlamentari (MP a Westminster, MLA a Stormont) e da consiglieri”.
Frew ha quindi aggiunto: “Ho fatto la mia promessa alla gente di North Antrim: mi impegnerò a fare del mio meglio per vedere protetti gli interessi di North Antrim e affinché la nostra zona continui ad andare oltre”.
La scelta è stata accolta positivamente da Paisley Jr.
“So che Paul lavora molto duramente per la comunità e farà del suo meglio per la gente di North Antrim”, ha affermato.
“Guardo avanti per lavorare a stretto contatto con Paul per continuare a decidere per North Antrim.
“La scelta di Paul della scorsa sera è parte della promessa del DUP di cancellare il doppio mandato”.

Ballymena councillor replaces Paisley Jr
Ballymena councillor Paul Frew has been selected to replace Ian Paisley Jr as a DUP representative in the Stormont Assembly.
His successor has been a councillor since 2005 for the Braid area of Ballymena.
Mr Frew, 35, was selected at a North Antrim DUP Association meeting on Wednesday night.
“It is a great honour for me to have been selected by my party colleagues to replace Ian Paisley MP in the Northern Ireland Assembly,” he said.
“Ian has worked very hard during his time as an Assembly Member – the people of our community recognised this when they chose him to represent us in Westminster.
“I know that filling Ian’s shoes at Stormont will be a big task, but I am looking forward to playing my part as a member of a strong North Antrim DUP team of MP, MLAs and councillors.”
Mr Frew added: “I make my promise to the people of North Antrim: I will endeavour to do my very best to see North Antrim’s interests are protected and our area continues to move forward.”
The appointment was welcomed by Mr Paisley.
“I know that Paul will work extremely hard for the community and he will do his best for the people of North Antrim,” he said.
“I am looking forward to working closely with Paul to continue delivering for North Antrim.
“Paul’s selection last night is part of the DUP delivering on our promise to phase out dual mandates.”
