Il primo ministro nordirlandese Peter Robinson ha chiesto alla gente di smettere di leggere The Irish News.
Il quotidiano, che ha dedicato tre pagine ai commenti rilasciati dal leader DUP sabato, afferma che Robinson ha voluto così colpire l’Irish News per gli articoli sul viaggio in Brasile e America durante il quale è stato accompagnato dal vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness.
Noel Doran, editorialista dell’Irish News, ha detto che se la gente seguirà la richiesta di boicottaggio emessa da Robinson, verranno persi 150 posti di lavoro con la conseguente chiusura del quotidiano.
“Deve essere ancora degno di nota che la persona che è in effetti il nostro primo ministro sta sollecitando un boicottaggio… semplicemente perché abbiamo posto delle domande legittime sulla spesa del denaro dei contribuenti”, ha detto Doran.
Seamus Dooley del National Union of Journalists (il sindacato dei giornalisti) ha detto che i commenti del primo ministro erano “irresponsabili” e “offensivi”.

Stop reading The Irish News – Robinson
NORTHERN Ireland’s First Minister Peter Robinson has called for people to stop reading The Irish News.
The paper, which dedicated three pages to the DUP leader’s comments on Saturday, claimed Mr Robinson was hitting back at press enquiries over the trip to Brazil and America during which he was accompanied by Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.
Noel Doran, the editor of The Irish News said if the public were to heed Mr Robinson’s boycott call, then 150 jobs would be loss with the subsequent closure of the newspaper.
“It sill has to be remarkable that the person who is effectively our prime minister should be urging a boycott… simply for asking legitimate questions about the spending of taxpayers money,” said Mr Doran.
Seamus Dooley from the National Union of Journalists said the First Minister’s comments were “irresponsible” and “insulting”.
