Una pipe bomb inesplosa è stata ritrovata nei terreni della stazione PSNI a West Belfast
Gli artificieri dell’esercito sono stati chiamati sulla scena ed il complesso è stato evacuato, mentre l’oggetto veniva esaminato. Hanno detto che era una “pipe bomb funzionante”.
Un mese fa i resti di una pipe bomb esplosa sono stati trovati nel terreno della stazione. I repubblicani erano sospettati di essere responsabili.
Il Comandante di West Belfast, Ispettore Capo Emma Mooney, ha detto: “I responsabili hanno un chiaro scopo – a uccidere o ferire gli agenti di polizia e il personale che lavora bella stazione.
“E’ pura fortuna che quello non è stato il risultato di questi due attacchi”.
Ha riferito che la polizia ha preso iniziative per migliorare la stazione Woodbourne, attraverso una serie di opere di miglioramento che inizieranno alla fine del mese.
“La comunità ci ha detto che vogliono questi miglioramenti però gli attacchi come questo metteno a repentaglio tutto ciò”, ha aggiunto.

Pipe bomb found at Woodbourne police station
An unexploded pipe bomb has been found in the grounds of Woodbourne police station in west Belfast.
Army bomb experts were tasked and the complex was evacuated while the object was examined. They said it was a “viable pipe bomb”.
A month ago the remains of an exploded pipe bomb were found in the grounds of the station. Dissident republicans were suspected of being responsible.
West Belfast Area Commander Chief Inspector Emma Mooney said: “The people responsible have one clear aim – to kill or injure the police officers and staff working there.
“It is sheer luck that this has not been the result of these two attacks.”
She said police have been taking steps to improve Woodbourne station through a series of enhancement works due to begin at the end of the month.
“The community has told us they want these improvements made however attacks like this put all that in jeopardy,” she added.
