Pipe bomb esplode nei pressi della stazione di polizia di Lurgan

La polizia ha comunicato che una pipe bomb è esplosa fuori da una stazione di polizia nordirlandese.

Lo scoppio è avvenuto intorno alle 23.30 di martedì sera alla stazione di Lurgan, nella Contea di Armagh.

Non sono stati riportati feriti, ma l’ordigno ha danneggiato un edificio situato di fronte alla caserma PSNI.

La polizia afferma che nessun avvertimento è stato dato prima dell’esplosione.

Pauline Shields, soprintendente alle operazioni, ha affermato: “Questo è stato un attacco sconsiderato e vile che voleva non solo uccidere dei poliziotti ma anche mettere in pericolo le vite degli abitanti che sarebbero potuti essere in zona al momento dello scoppio.

“Questo attacco deve essere condannato e sto chiedendo ai membri della comunità di lavorare con noi per trovare i responsabili”.

Pipe bomb blast near police station

A pipe bomb has exploded outside a police station in Northern Ireland, police said.

The blast happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday night at Lurgan police station in Co Armagh.

There were no injuries but the device damaged a building opposite the police station.

Police said no warnings were given.

Operations superintendent Pauline Shields said: “This was a reckless and cowardly attack which was aimed not only at killing police officers but also endangering the lives of any members of the public who would have been around at the time.

“This attack must be condemned and I am asking each and every member of the local community to work with us to find those responsible.”
