L’ordigno, una pipe bomb, è stato trovato in un piccolo appezzamento di terreno colmo di rifiuti a fianco della stazione e quindi portato via per ulteriori indagini.
Alcune abitazioni in Courtrai Park sono state evacuate durante l’incidente.
Andy Lemon, comandante di zona per Strabane, ha riferito che la polizia era stata avvisata della bomba da una telefonata anonima ricevuta nelle prime ore di lunedì mattina.
Ha detto: “L’ordigno è stato ritrovato dopo le ricerche nella zona della stazione di polizia.
“Sfortunatamente, i residenti di Courtrai Park sono stati evacuati.
“Alcuni erano anziani e hanno dovuto lasciare il caldo e la sicurezza delle loro abitazioni durante una fredda notte a causa delle azioni egoistiche di poche persone.
“Condanno senza riserva questa azione. I responsabili non hanno nulla da offrire a chi vive in questa comunità e chiedo alla popolazione di darci le informazioni su quei criminali, per prenderli e portarli davanti ad un giudice”.

Pipe bomb found near PSNI base
The device, thought to be a pipe bomb, was found lying in a small patch of waste ground at the side of the station, was removed for further examination.
A number of homes in Courtrai Park were evacuated during the incident.
Area Commander for Strabane Chief Inspector Andy Lemon said police were alerted to the device by an anonymous telephone warning in the early hours of Monday morning.
He said: “The device was found after thorough searches had been carried out in the area of the station.
“Unfortunately, local residents of Courtrai Park had to be evacuated.
“Some of those residents were older and had to leave the warmth and security of their homes on a cold night because of the selfish actions of a few.
“I unreservedly condemn this action. Those who are responsible have nothing to offer anyone living in this community and I would call on all members of the public to give us the information to detect and bring
these criminals to justice.”
