La polizia indaga su un’esplosione a East Belfast e sul successivo lancio di una pipe bomb
Nessuno sarebbe rimasto ferito nello scoppio.
Un cordone di sicurezza è subito stato avviato e alcuni residenti sono stati evacuati dalle proprie abitazioni.
Il cosnigliere UUP Jim ROdgers ha detto che l’attacco potrebbe essere collegato ad un recente attacco armato avvenuto contro la stessa abitazione.
“La polizia mi ha detto che questo è il seguito di un attacco con armi da fuoco avvenuto nella zona oltre un mese fa.
“Voglio condannare quanto avvenuto. La gente di East Belfast non vuole questo genere di comportamento”.
Judith Cochrane, parlamentare dell’Alliance Party, afferma: “Sono molto preoccupata perché l’esplosione è avvenuta in una zona residenziale. Qualcuno poteva restare gravemente ferito o ucciso.
“Deve essersi trattato in un incidente spaventoso per i residenti”.
In seguito una pipe bomb è stata lanciata dentro ad un’autovettura in Tamar Street, poco prima delle 23.
Alcuni danni sono stati riscontrati sul sedile posteriore della vettura.
Nessuno è rimasto ferito in questo secondo attacco.

Pipe bomb found after Belfast explosion
Police are investigating an explosion and a pipe bomb attack in east Belfast.
There were no reports of injuries.
A security cordon remains in place and several residents are still out of their homes.
UUP councillor Jim Rodgers said it is believed the attack is linked to a recent gun attack on the same house.
“Police have told me that this is a follow on to a shooting incident in the district over a month ago.”
“I want to condemn what has taken place. The people of east Belfast don’t want this type of behaviour.”
Alliance East Belfast MLA Judith Cochrane said: “I am extremely concerned that this explosion happened in such a residential area. Somebody could have been seriously hurt or killed.
“This must have been a frightening incident for residents in the area when it happened.”
Later a pipe bomb was thrown through the window of a car in Tamar Street just before 11pm.
Damage was caused to a back seat.
No one was injured in the second attack.
