Pistole e munizioni trovate venerdì dalla PSNI ad Ardoyne
Guns found in Belfast dissident raids
Police have uncovered a number of guns and bullets following searches of houses in north Belfast, in connection with dissident republican activity.
Some residents were evacuated during the PSNI Serious Crime Team operation in the Ardglen Place area on Friday evening.
Army bomb experts were also involved alongside forensic teams.
The operation has now ended with the discovery of firearms and ammunition, which have been taken away for further testing.
In a statement, Chief Superintendant George Clarke, district commander for north and west Belfast, said: “The actions of police today have undoubtedly thwarted the attempts of criminals to inflict death, injury and misery on the community of north Belfast.
“Police are determined to work to protect communities from these threats and would appeal for the public’s continued assistance and co-operation.”
Anyone with further information has been asked to come forward.
