Il Police Ombudsman nordirlandese ha iniziato la sua indagine dopo l’utilizzo di tre proiettili di plastica da parte della polizia durante i disordini a Craigavon sabato sera
La polizia sarebbe stata oggetto del lancio di mattoni, bottiglie e spranghe di ferro, che hanno causato il danneggiamento di tre Land Rover.
L’ispettore capo della PSNI per la zona riferisce che gli agenti potevano morire nell’attacco.
Il riot è iniziato dopo l’intervento della polizia nella zona di Tullygally Road, sabato pomeriggio, per la presenza di un oggetto sospetto.
Il presunto ordigno è stato utilizzato per attirare i poliziotti nella zona e mentre gli agenti stavano creando un cordone di sicurezza, sono stati attaccati. Lo riferisce l’ispettore capo Jason Murphy.
I proiettili di plastica sono stati sparati a poca distanza l’uno dall’altro intorno a mezzanotte.
Il Police Ombudsman chiede informazioni a chiunque abbia visto sparare i tre proiettili di plastica o conosca le circostanze nelle quali ciò e avvenuto.

The Police Ombudsman has launched an investigation after police fired three baton rounds during rioting in Craigavon on Saturday night.
Police said bricks, bottles and iron bars were thrown at officers, seriously damaging three police vehicles.
The area’s chief inspector said officers could have been killed.
The trouble started after police moved in to deal with a suspicious device on the Tullygally Road on Saturday afternoon.
The device was used to lure police officers into the area before officers manning the security cordon were attacked, Chief Inspector Jason Murphy said.
The baton rounds were discharged within minutes of each other at around midnight on Saturday.
