Una poliziotta è stata operata dopo essere stata ferita da una grossa pietra lanciata attraverso il finestrino della sua vettura a North Belfast
L’agente era seduta nel sedile del passeggero quando l’oggetto ha infranto il finestrino più vicino.
Paula Hilman, Comandante d’Area ed Ispettore Capo della polizia, ha detto: “Ciò che è avvenuto ieri sera è in netto contrasto con quanto vogliamo nel quartiere”.
Per l’Ispettore Capo la poliziotta, in servizio da solo due mesi, è finita sotto i ferri e potrebbe restare lontana dal lavoro per mesi.
“Iniziare con un’operazione in ospedale non è quello che lei o io aspettavamo”, ha aggiunto.
“Lei è rimasta sorprendente calma nonostante la gravità di quanto le era accaduto”.
Ha chiesto ai giovani, presenti in un gruppo di circa 20 e che hanno visto l’aggressione, di aiutare ad identificare il colpevole, e ha detto ai genitori di controllare i propri figli.

Surgery for Rathcoole attack officer
A trainee policewoman has undergone surgery after a large stone was thrown through the window of her patrol car in north Belfast.
She was sitting in the front passenger seat when the missile came through the window next to her.
Area Commander Chief Inspector Paula Hilman said: “What happened last night is in sharp contrast to what we all want in the estate.”
The chief inspector said the officer, who had only been in the police service for two months, underwent an operation and could be off work for months.
“To start out with an operation in hospital isn’t what either she or I anticipated,” she added.
“She has remained remarkably calm given the seriousness of what she has been through.”
She appealed for young people in a group of about 20 who witnessed the attack to identify the culprit, and for parents to keep an eye on their children.
