Tre persone hanno subito un pesante shock dopo un attacco con armi da fuoco contro un’abitazione a Ballymena, Contea di Antrim
Secondo gli abitanti, i colpi sarebbero stati quattro o cinque.
Molti agenti di polizia hanno isolato il quartiere e, utilizzando la luce di un elicottero, hanno circondato una casa a poca distanza dal luogo dell’attacco.
Nessun arresto è stato compiuto.
Una portavoce della PSNI riferisce che un motivo per l’attacco non è ancora stato identificato e chiede aiuto alla popolazione della zona.
Il parlamentare dello SDLP, Declan O’Loan, ha condannato l’aggressione e ritiene una fortuna che non ci siano stati morti.
“C’era ancora una forte presenza sulla scena e l’elicottero della polizia è stato utilizzato dopo l’attacco.
“Potevano esserci vittime. Uno dei risultati dei Troubles è la grande quantità di armi da fuoco disponibili per i criminali”.
O’Loan dice di non conoscere i motivi dell’attacco, ma secondo li non ci sono dubbi che i paramilitari lealisti sono ancora attivi in questa zona, e nel passato lo spaccio di droga era un motivo principale per questi criminali”.
Ha aggiunto: “Siamo fortunati per non aver avuto perdite di vite in questo caso. Incoraggio chiunque abbia informazioni di fornirla alla polizia”.

Police investigate house gun attack
Three people are treated for shock after a gun attack on a house in Ballymena, co Antrim.
Local people said they heard four or five shots fired.
A heavy force of police sealed off the estate and, using the searchlight from a helicopter surrounded a house a short distance away.
No arrests were made.
A PSNI spokeswoman said a motive for the attack had yet to be established and appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Local SDLP MLA Declan O’Loan condemned the shooting and said it was fortunate there had been no deaths.
He said: “There was still a heavy presence at the scene and the police helicopter was used during the night following the attack.
“Lives could have been lost in the incident. One of the results of the troubles is the large quantity of guns available to criminals.”
Mr O’Loan said he was unaware of the motivation for the attack, but said there was “no doubt that loyalist paramilitaries are still active in this immediate area, and in the past drugs activity has been a primary motive for such crimes.”
He added: “It is fortunate that there was no loss of life in this instance. I encourage anyone with any knowledge to bring it to the police.”
