I contestatori repubblicani hanno inscenato una protesta nel quartier generale dell’Alliance Party per protestare delle condizioni carcerarie

I membri del Republican Network for Unity affermano che il ministro della Giustizia David Ford, nonché leader dell’Alliance Party, ha rinnegato l’accordo sulle strip search (perquisizioni corporali) a Maghaberry.

Dopo i colloqui tra l’amministrazione penitenziaria ed i prigionieri repubblicani avvenuti lo scorso agosto, si era giunti all’accordo di terminare le perquisizioni corporali prima delle visite familiari e legali.

Si apprende che due persone sarebbero state portate via dalla polizia dall’edificio in University Street a Belfast ed arrestate insieme ad un altro uomo che si trovava all’esterno.

Ford afferma: “Questa è una cosa che deve gestire la PSNI. Non faremo ulteriori commenti.

“Tutti i rappresentanti dell’Alliance Party continueranno ad offrire un servizio ai propri elettori in maniera aperta ed accessibile”.

Republicans protest inside Alliance HQ

Republican protestors have staged a protest inside the headquarters of the Alliance Party over prison conditions.

Members of the Republican Network for Unity claim that the Justice Minister, Alliance Party leader David Ford, has reneged on a deal over strip searches in Magheraberry.

Following talks between the prison service and inmates last August, an agreement was reached to end random full-body searching before domestic and legal visits.

It’s understood two people were removed from the building on University Street by police – they, and another man outside, have been arrested.

Mr Ford said: “This matter is being dealt with by the PSNI. We will be making no further comment.

“All Alliance Party representatives will continue to offer a service to constituents in an open and accessible manner.”
