La Protestant Coalition sta per aprire una sezione nell’area di Magherafeli, dopo “l’esclusione” dell’attivista per le vittime Willie Frazer da un incontro del Consiglio Distrettuale.
Frazer arrivò negli uffici del Consiglio con un piccolo gruppo di lealisti per protestare per la presenza di una targa in memoria di due consiglieri dello Sinn Féin assassinati: John Davey e Bernard O’Hagan.
In una dichiarazione rilasciata al Mail, un portavoce di Protestant Coalition ha detto che la comunità protestante “è stanca e sofferente” e non si fida più di DUP e UUP.
Ha riferito che Frazer era stato accompagnato da membri di Protestant Coalition e ha affermato che il DUP ed il resto dei consiglieri si erano rifiutati “di ascoltare la verità”.
“Alcuni protestanti di Magherafelt mi hanno contattato su questa e altre questioni”, ha proseguito il portavoce.
Riferendosi alle speculazioni sulla protesta di massa, ha spiegato: “A chiunque partecipa alle nostre proteste di massa agli uffici comunali noi chiediamo che protesti in maniera legale come durante gli altri eventi che organizziamo. Se qualcuno protesta per proprio contro, chiediamo anche a lui di farlo in maniera legale.
“Allo stesso tempo chiunque può entrare negli uffici del Consiglio di Magherafelt per registrare la propria denuncia riguardo alla targa”.
Ha aggiunto che chiunque sia interessato ad entrare nella Protestant Coalition può telefonare o inviare una mail a pc_magherafelt@yahoo.co.uk lasciando i propri dettagli.
Dopo la visita di Frazer, il capogruppo del DUP Paul McLean ha detto che nessuno lo ha avvicinato chiedendo informazioni sull’incontro del Consiglio.

Protestant Coalition set up branch in Magherafelt
The Protestant Coalition is setting up a branch in the Magherafelt area following last month’s ‘lock out’ of Victims’ campaigner Willie Frazer from a meeting of the local District Council.
Mr Frazer arrived at the council offices with a small group of loyalists to protest at the present of a memorial plaque in the lobby to two murdered Sinn Fein councillors – John Davey and Bernard O’Hagan.
In a statement to the MAIL, a Protestant Coalition spokesperson said the Protestant community was “sick and tired” and no longer had any faith in the DUP/UUP.
He said Mr Frazer had been accompanied by Protestant Coalition members and claimed the DUP and the rest of the councillors had refused to “listen to the truth.”
“A number of the Protestant people in the Magherafelt area have contacted me regarding this and other matters,” the spokesperson continued.
Referring to speculation about mass protests, he said: “If anyone attends one of our mass protests at the council offices we ask that they protest in a lawful manner as at other events we run. If anyone does protest on their own, we also ask them to do so in a lawful manner.
“Also at the same time anyone can pop into the Magherafelt Council offices to register their complaint about the plaque.”

Following Mr Frazer’s visit, the DUP group leader Councillor Paul McLean said that no one had approached him about attending the council meeting.
